Description
Flixonase Nasal Spray is a corticosteroid treatment used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including hay fever and year-round allergies. It contains the active ingredient fluticasone propionate, which works by reducing inflammation inside the nasal passages. When allergens such as pollen, dust mites, mould or pet dander trigger an allergic reaction, the body releases substances that cause swelling, irritation and excess mucus production. This leads to symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, sneezing, itching and watery eyes.
Flixonase works by blocking the release of these inflammatory substances and calming the body’s allergic response. By reducing swelling and irritation in the nasal lining, it helps improve airflow and relieve congestion. It also eases related symptoms such as sneezing, nasal itching and mucus build-up, and can help reduce eye symptoms linked to hay fever.
The spray acts directly in the nose, targeting the source of inflammation. Some people may notice improvement within a day, but it can take several days of regular use to achieve the full benefit. When used consistently as directed, Flixonase can help keep allergy symptoms under control throughout the allergy season or for ongoing, year-round allergies, allowing you to breathe more comfortably and manage symptoms more effectively.
Directions
How should I take Flixonase?
Flixonase should be used exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions provided with the product. Shake the bottle well before each use and gently blow your nose to clear it.
Remove the cap and hold the bottle upright with your fingers on either side of the nozzle. Tilt your head slightly forward, insert the nozzle into one nostril and close the other nostril with your finger. Press down on the nozzle to release a spray while breathing in gently through your nose. Hold your breath for a few seconds, then breathe out. Repeat the process in the other nostril if required.
If you forget to use Flixonase, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your usual schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.

The inactive ingredients are Purified Water, Glucose, Cellulose microcrystalline, Benzalkonium chloride, Phenylethyl Alcohol, Polysorbate, and Carmellose sodium.
Warnings
Flixonase may not be suitable for everyone. Speak to a healthcare professional before using it if you have recently had nasal surgery or injury, frequent nosebleeds, untreated nasal infections, or if you are taking other steroid medicines. Caution is also advised if you have tuberculosis or any ongoing infection.
Although Flixonase works locally in the nose, prolonged or excessive use of corticosteroid sprays may increase the risk of side effects. Always use the lowest effective dose and follow the instructions provided. If you experience persistent nosebleeds, nasal pain, vision changes or signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical advice promptly.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have any underlying medical conditions, consult your pharmacist or GP before starting treatment.
Side Effects
What are the side effects of Flixonase?
Flixonase may cause side effects, although many people use it without problems. Common side effects can include nosebleeds, nasal dryness or irritation, an unpleasant taste or smell, and headaches. These are usually mild and temporary.
Less commonly, some people may experience sore throat, nasal ulceration or, very rarely, changes in vision. If you notice persistent nosebleeds, severe nasal pain, blurred vision or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling or difficulty breathing, seek medical advice promptly.
Always follow the recommended dosage and consult a healthcare professional if you have concerns about side effects or ongoing symptoms.
Storage
How do I store Flixonase?
Store Flixonase at room temperature and keep it away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not freeze the spray. Always keep the bottle upright with the cap securely in place when not in use.
